What a great day we all had at the excursion yesterday. Thank you for organising it for us Miss Williams! I have been impressed with how K/1 are progressing this term. I would like to thank the K/1 families for setting up good routines for home learning and getting to bed on time. When children sleep well, they'll be more settled, happy and ready for school the next day. Experts believe primary school children require around 10-12 hours of sleep per night.
Yesterday on the excursion, I was very proud of how K/1. For some of the children the experience was new and a little scary, however, all the children showed confidence and resilience, and will remember that experience positively for years to come. Today we will be reflecting on everything we explored on the excursion. I am excited to read the children's recounts about their favourite thing they learned.
To work on our descriptive and imaginative writing this week K/1 used their imagination to see things in the clouds. After discussing what they saw and creating a story, the children wrote their descriptions very creatively. Once again, I was impressed with their imaginations.
This week during numeracy groups, K/1 are learning about Length. The kindergarten children have been measuring the length of objects in the classroom using various measuring tools. To explore the concept of length at home you could mark your child's height and the measure it with an informal measuring tool, such as a pencil or a book, e.g. how many books make up your height.
Thank you for all the support from the Wyong Creek community. If you have any questions at all, please come and have a chat with me.
